you can create and add your own custom ringtones to your device using iTunes.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step One: Install iTunes
Even though modern iPhones often operate independently of
iTunes, adding custom ringtones still necessitates its use. Ensure you have the
latest version of iTunes installed on your Mac or PC.
Step Two: Select Your Sound File
Before diving into the process, choose the sound clip you wish
to convert into a ringtone. Ensure the clip is no longer than 40 seconds. If
needed, trim the clip using an audio editor like Audacity or online tools such
as mp3cut.net.
Step Three: Convert to AAC Format
If your sound file is in MP3 format, convert it to AAC using
iTunes. Simply add the file to your iTunes library, select it, and navigate to
File > Convert > Create AAC Version.
Step Four: Rename Your File
After conversion, locate the AAC version of your file in iTunes.
Right-click to reveal the "Kind" column, ensuring you can
differentiate between the AAC and MP3 versions. Drag the AAC file to your
desktop and rename the file extension to .m4r.
Step Five: Transfer to Your iPhone
Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes. Select
your device and navigate to the Tones section. Drag and drop the .m4r file into
iTunes, or copy and paste it if drag-and-drop doesn't work. iTunes will sync
the ringtone to your iPhone.
Step Six: Set Your Ringtone
On your iPhone, navigate to Settings > Sounds & Haptics
> Ringtone. Your custom ringtone will appear at the top of the list. Select
it to set as your default ringtone.
Customization and Removal
Feel free to assign your custom ringtone to specific contacts
for easy identification. To remove ringtones, reconnect your iPhone to iTunes,
navigate to the Tones section, and delete as desired.
